BLUZIN features the Blues voice of the Lehigh Valley with our New Orleans born Hip Shakin Mama, Bev Conklin and recording artist, Wayne Smith with his skilled offerings on many instruments. Bluzin is a scaled down version of their award-winning band, BC & The Blues Crew; scaled down to a duo, trio or quartet.
Bluzin as a duo is a singer-songwriter collaboration with the sultry voiced Bev 'BC' Conklin and musical arranger Wayne Smith on acoustic guitar with his unique percussion set-up. As a trio, we will end our long time collaboration with Nick Roberti on bass and vocals and starting in June 2008, add our newest member Nick Franclik who offers his versatility on bass, acoustic guitar and vocals. Franclik was a sub for Roberti and now the two will swap places making the Nick transition seamless On rare occasions, we do a quartet with either the incredible performer, Tom Charles on sax & vocals or Wayne's multi-talented brother, Dave Smith who offers sax, flute, clarinet and guitar. Bluzin celebrated BC's birthday and opened for Saffire at the Sellersville Theater in January, 2005 - oh what a night! An extended opening opportunity for Bluzin happened when Duke Robillard's plane was delayed twice in route to Bethlehem, PA's Musikfest for his performance at the Ice House, a Godfrey Daniels event in August 2006. This Godfrey Daniels opportunity provided an amazing feature Ice House show for Bluzin with friends Lea Gilmore and The Girls (BC, Sarah Ayers & Lori Donovan) in 2007. In 2008, Bluzin participated in the Berks Jazz Fest at the Pike Cafe and Judy's On Cherry with an open invitation to return. Rounding out the winter was a request to open for Shemekia Copeland, which was a lot of fun at the Sellersville Theater. Spring will bring Mayfair Blues Night where Bluzin will be joining the line-up opening for Sherrie Williams. Bluzin's material includes their own orignals and and diverse selection of covers from delta blues, chicago blues, swing blues, texas blues, folk, folk rock, jazz, soul, R&B, Motown, Country and more.
